ABOUT
THE COURSE
There is a difference in gaining your
education from a prestigious educational institution, compared
to, say a community college....not that you can't get a business
degree, from a community college, or be successful from that
point, but a resume with Stanford, as opposed to City Community
college, is probably going to be in your favor to win the
job.
If you’re SERIOUS about Voice Overs, then ensure your
self, rock solid training. Be hesitant about Voice Over education
that after 6-8 weeks will promise you a VO tape to shop.....blah...blah,
find training that will be honest with you about your talent.
A curriculum/educational based situation, that gets into it
all, from union contracts, to non union work, how to execute
copy, how to perform on a microphone. Learn from someone who
has been there, and experienced a very high level of consistent
success.
If consistency is the definition of success, then Sandy Thomas
has carved a solid 16 year National Voice over career. He
1st booked his 1st National account for RC Cola in 1988. He
signed with Cunningham, Escott, Dipeni (One of the Worlds
leading Voice Over agencies) in 1992, and has consistently
worked every year in the countries most competitive VO market,
since moving his VO career to New York in 1993.
A SAG/AFTRA member, vested in both unions over 10 years. He
has a portfolio of Major commercial, promo, and Industrial
work that demonstrates a consistent solid track record of
success. He's worked for the Top ad agencies, broadcast networks,
prod companies, and cable networks in the world, over a 20
year career that is still going strong. In 2007 alone, he
has 3 National commercial accounts running on National network
TV. It's an accomplishment for a National VO talent to have
one national account on the air at one time, no less 3.
National commercial accounts over his career, include: RC
Cola, Pepsi, Adidas, Stouffer Hotels, Maxfli, Jeep, Miller,
Office Depot, Fuji Film, Computer City, Campbell's, The NFL,
HP, The NBA, Neutrogena, Citizen Watches, Pontiac, Gillette,
Sony, Pay Day, Nutrageous, Toyota, and more.
His voice launched major cable channels like MSNBC, ESPN 2,
The Game Show Network, he was the only in show voice on Fear
Factor for 6 seasons on NBC, one of the most successful reality
based shows ever in the history of TV, now in syndication.
You've heard him on promos, campaigns, on going voice imaging
on channels HBO, USA, NBC, ABC, CBS, HGTV, SHOWTIME, CINIMAX,
A&E, ESPN, ESPN2, MTV, G4, OLN, NICKELODIAN, PBS, TNT,
MSNBC.....and others
His VO talent has been affiliated with the Top agencies in
the country, 10 years with Cunningham, Escott, Slevin,Doherty,
ICM, William Morris, and currently affiliated with Don Buchwald.
Sandy Thomas studied Broadcast / Marketing at the University
of Florida, Gainesville.
Sandy Thomas now introduces "The Sandy Thomas School
of Voice Overs" located 45 minutes east of Manhattan,
in Bellmore Long Island, minutes from the Long Island Rail
Road. The course is a 10 week/10 session, power based voice
over training school, no patronizing, we get you ready to
perform in the studio with big time producers, who don't have
time for non pros, in a small class size environment. This
course system will specialize in the art of reading commercial
copy, promo copy, in studio VO sessions, the business of Voice
Overs, mic presence, the actor in you, setting up your office,
getting an agent....who is legit?, and realizing what agent
is just a waste of your time, some agents don't have the talent
to get you in the door, self marketing, executing SAG/AFTRA
contracts, understanding the unions, pension health benefits,
setting up your in house studio if you want to, the right
demo tape, and the last 3 classes take you to Independent
outside studios, with you in the VO booth, reading copy, with
real engineers and producers, putting you in the middle of
a pro VO recording environment as a performer, so you'll be
battled tested, directed like a producer would in a real life
VO session. You'll be given the SAG, or AFTRA agreement, and
expected to perform like a professional VO talent would.
This VO educational program is designed
to build your talent, educate, and showcase an honest assessment
of your talent status. In the end we will communicate if your
reading potential is where it needs to be, in order to be
showcased on a demo, to be put forward to any agent, or potential
buyer.
At the conclusion of the semester, if your talent is ready,
we produce and give you a commercial demo on CD, for you to
duplicate, and shop for work, and agency consideration for
representation. We will not allow you to have a demo in the
market that represents amateur status.
